"G" Depot Coy. Royal Engineers
Died 5th June 1917 at County of London B Hospital, aged 23. He was gassed 18 months before his death while fighting in France. He went through several operations before his death, but nothing could ultimately save him.
He was buried with full military honours at All Saint's Parish Church.
He had two brothers who also served in the First World War. His brother Ernest served with 2nd Devons, and was killed in action in France on 23rd February the following year, aged just 19. Their brother, Walter, served in the Royal Marines Light Infantry.
