Echlin Molyneux was born in Ireland in 1800. He was a barrister, among many other things. He married three times, had eight children.
He retired to Bournemouth, where he died on Jan 13th 1886.
Buried in the parish churchyard.
The anchor carved into the base of the stone was a popular Victorian symbol of hope, or being anchored to the value of steadfastness. I've also seen similar with inscriptions like 'anchored to God', so there are various on a theme.
